Death of HCSO K-9

06/27/2013

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is very saddened to report that K-9 “UBS” died yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m.

“UBS” was a Belgian Malinois assigned to Deputy Hank Ritter. Deputy Ritter noticed “UBS” was not feeling well and made the decision to take him to the Veterinarian for testing. The results showed that ‘UBS” had cancer which had spread from his liver to the pancreas, causing other health issues. The veterinarian advised Deputy Ritter there was nothing further medically that could be done to ensure quality of life and recommended he be put to sleep. This was done yesterday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

‘UBS” was Deputy Ritter’s law enforcement partner, specialized in Narcotics, Tracking and Apprehension. In the last eight years there were very few days he was not in the car ready for work or when the phone rang and the voice on the other end requested the services of “UBS.” These dogs become an important part of the daily work lives of their human partners as well as becoming a part of their home families.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 “UBS” End of Watch June 26, 2013.
