On November 19, 2012 the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received information regarding an alleged theft that occurred at the Hamilton County Jail on September 10, 2012

As the investigation progressed it was determined that Sergeant Wanda Smith, who is assigned to the Hamilton County Jail, appeared to be involved in the reported theft. Ms. Smith has since resigned from her position with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

This was a joint investigation involving both the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Internal Affairs Division. This case will be forwarded to the Hamilton County District Attorney’s office for review and presented to the Hamilton County Grand Jury for prosecution.
