Crisis Intervention Training for Law Enforcement

A two day, August 7-8, 2012 Crisis Intervention training session is being hosted at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for law enforcement who deal with our young people on a daily basis. Attending the two day training are nineteen School Resource Officers from Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, two officers from Chattanooga Police Department, two officers from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Police Department and two officers from Signal Mountain Police Department.

This training, presented by professionals who have volunteered their time are as follows: Parkridge Valley Hospital, Youth Villages, Cadas, Suicide Prevention Network, Skyridge Medical Center, Volunteer Behavioral Health, Fortwood, Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office, Chattanooga Autism Center, Johnson Mental Health, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Chattanooga Police Department.

The goal of this training is to better equip School Resource Officers and UTC campus police with additional tools in recognizing and helping our youth who may be struggling with cognitive, mental health, or serious emotional disturbances.

The training today is being held in the Chickamauga Room located on the third floor of the University Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
