Traffic fatality on Sims Road
On Friday, September 2, 2011 at approximately 11:30 p.m. the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 7500 block of Sims Road on a traffic crash. The crash site was located at 7526 Sims Road and involved a single vehicle.
HCSO Traffic Investigators found that the driver of the 1994 Honda Accord was traveling east on Sims Road. When he rounded a curve in the road and attempted to brake, the vehicle slid off the roadway, striking a tree. Speed as well as wet roadway conditions are considered factors in the crash.
The driver, a sixteen year old male student from Ooltewah, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash. Name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
Although it has been reported that a motorcycle may have been involved in this crash, that is false information.
This investigation is continuing and being conducted by Deputy Eddie Sledge, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.
