Traffic fatality on Retro Hughes Road

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to Retro Hughes Road around 10:19 p.m. last night regarding a missing motorcyclist. He was last seen by family members about 9:00 a.m. on August 13, when he left his residence to go riding. A missing report was filed by the family with the Chattanooga Police Department and through his phone provider, his location was narrowed down to the Retro Hughes Road area of Hamilton County.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, family and friends searched the area and a family friend found the victim and motorcycle off an embankment at 1586 Retro Hughes Road. The victim, Terry Wayne Shull, Jr. w/m age 50, was found deceased and the Traffic Division was called to investigate the crash. The investigation shows the victim , who was riding a 2003 Yamaha Motorcycle down the mountain was traveling too fast for road conditions and character. He crossed the centerline and left the roadway to his left as he failed to negotiate a curve. There was no evidence of braking and no evidence of a crash on or near the roadway. He was wearing a helmet. The victim was transported to the Hamilton County Forensic Center by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services.

At this time the whereabouts of the victim is unknown from early Friday morning , August 13th until he was found early Sunday morning, August 15th 2010. If anyone has knowledge or information they are asked to call Sgt. Mark Kimsey, Traffic Investigator at 423-209-8894.
