Trevor Guthrie pled to 11 months and 29 days

03/09/2010

A criminal court case in Judge Rebecca Sterns courtroom yesterday resulted in Trevor Guthrie age 42 pleading guilty to Providing Alcohol to Minors and receiving a sentence of 11 months/29 days. He was taken into custody immediately.

This guilty plea is the result of a traffic crash that took place on February 3, 2008 in the 9800 block of East Brainerd road at approximately 6:18 a.m. The traffic crash was investigated by Traffic investigator Todd Cook with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. This incident involved a single vehicle crash and the investigation showed that the vehicle was being operated by Ley Meredith Birmingham age 17 and the passenger/owner was Jonathan Crowe. The driver lost control in a curve and left the roadway, striking a utility pole on the driver’s side. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was flown by Life Force to Erlanger Medical Center in critical condition.

As the investigation progressed, Investigator Todd Cook found that both Birmingham and Crowe had been at the residence of Trevor Guthrie who lives in Ringgold, Georgia just a short distance from the crash location. The investigation also provided information that Mr. Guthrie purchased alcohol for Ley Birmingham and knew that both parties had been drinking when they left his residence. It was also found that other juveniles were at the Guthrie residence that night and they also had been provided alcohol by Guthrie.

The successful conclusion to this case is due to the experience and professionalism of Traffic Investigator Todd Cook and the Traffic Division with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
