HCSO Law Enforcement Services Celebrates Graduation of Two New Patrol Deputies

Hamilton County, TN – On Friday, November 3, 2023, two new Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies graduated from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy in Blount County, Tennessee.

Sheriff Austin Garrett and numerous Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office personnel traveled to Blount County, Tennessee, to participate in the graduation and recognize the achievements of these new patrol deputies.

The newly graduated HCSO Deputies are Amy Araiza and Nathan Cartwright. Deputies Ariza and Cartwright joined recruits from law enforcement agencies across Tennessee and were part of the Regional Law Enforcement Academy (Class 027).

Prior to attending the academy, Deputy Araiza served for seven years in Corrections Services where she concluded her service as a Corrections Corporal.  Prior to the academy, Deputy Cartright served for 15 years as a Judicial Security Deputy in Judicial Security Services.

Deputies Araiza and Cartwright will now begin their 12 – 14 week Field Training and Evaluation Program and throughout that time, they will be assigned to various senior Field Training Deputies and specialty units for uniformed law enforcement operational training.

The (12) week course involved (500) hours of intense law enforcement training including criminal law, community relations, patrol tactics, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, firearms, as well as other law enforcement-related topics. Recruits are also required to meet Cooper Institute standards for physical fitness in several categories, including sit-ups, push-ups, one-and-a-half-mile run, 300-meter run, and an obstacle course.
