Grundy County Shooting

A Grundy County Deputy was killed and another Officer with the City of Monteagle was wounded early this morning while trying to serve a warrant.

The two officers were trying to serve a warrant on Kermit Eugene Bryson, 29 about 3:00 a.m. this morning at an address on Monteagle Road. There is an all out manhunt underway and the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

The SWAT team from both the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Bradley County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene along with search dogs. There are approximately 100 officers from two dozen law enforcement agencies involved in the search.

The deputy had been on patrol for about one year and just completed the police academy. He was married and had five children.

Bryson has contacts in Hamilton and Rhea county as well. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, contact your local police department or dial 911.
