A Christmas Message from Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond
“Christmas is a special time of year when family and friends can come together to celebrate the birth of our Savior and reflect on our blessings and fond memories. With the closing of a new year, we have time to remember those who have gone before us and how our lives have been changed by their presence. With the coming of a new year we are able to rejoice and look forward to the many new opportunities and blessings that God will share with us in the future.
While I look forward to this holiday season, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that this Christmas will be my last to celebrate as your Sheriff. I want you to know how thankful I am for the amazing honor it has been to serve as your sheriff. I began my career with the HCSO in 1978 after being appointed by Sheriff H.Q. Evatt to be his Chief Deputy. Since then, I have spent the better part of my life in service to the HCSO and the people of this great county. I have always believed that leadership is found in one’s actions and character, not in a position or title. To me, a good leader always leads by example.
As the New Year approaches, I am reminded of all the many memories I have made and grateful for the extraordinary progress the HCSO has made during my tenure. While we have accomplished many things, I look forward to all that it will achieve in the future. While this is my last Christmas as your sheriff, I still have many more things to accomplish before my term ends later next year. Until then, I will continue to serve you as sheriff and look forward to the challenges ahead.
On behalf of the men and women of the HCSO, I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
