Earlier today at approximately 12:20 p.m., Officer Quarterman was involved in doing a routine security check of a cell area on the third floor of the Hamilton County Jail. She noticed that someone had placed a blanket in the food slot opening of the cell and went to check. As she approached the cell door she noticed that an inmate was attempting to hang himself and had tied sheets to the screen area of the cell and then around his neck. http://www.hcsheriff.gov/pressreleases/display.php?releaseid=432 The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has received grant funding in the amount of $49,900.00 for the period of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012 from Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO). When deputies arrived on scene they found Joseph Davies suffering from at least two knife wounds. Information from the victim revealed that he and his wife, Angela Davies became involved in an argument over her spilling a drink in the bed and him saying she could not have anything further to drink.
