Child Seat Safety Check

February 6, 2004 - The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department will have a free child safety seat check on Tuesday, February 10th, 2004 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Annex on Dayton Blvd. Technicians will be on hand to answer your questions about child passenger safety and to check your car seat for correct installation.

Tennessee Has New Child Restraint Laws

August 14, 2003 - As you are aware, Governor Bredesen has recently signed a law which revises the current child restraint law. The new law is slated to take effect on July 1, 2004. Until that time, offenders will receive warnings.

Traffic Laws Amended for Motorcycles

August 14, 2003 - Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the driver of a motorcycle approaching an intersection, which is controlled by a traffic-control signal utilizing a vehicle detection device that is inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle, shall come to a full and complete stop at the intersection and, after exercising due care as provided by law, may proceed with due caution when it is safe to do so.
